Sondrestrom's Grand Tetons

Intrepid sojourners assigned to Sondrestom Air Base, Greenland, either TDY or PCS often found themselves with little to occupy their off duty time during the eternal days and nights associated with the Arctic. Since the surf was seldom up on the Sondrestrom Fjord, hiking, fishing, bowling, happy hour, ping pong, table shuffle board, darts, BX visits, and movies became the sports of choice. Apparently some creative visitors to this Garden Spot of southern Greenland found a sensuous new addition and diversion, rock painting. (Photo by Ray Hull, Firebird Pilot, 1966)
